When the first lockdown was announced back in March 2020 One Media was the largest provider of jobs for teenagers in Devon.
It was gut wrenching to have to close this side of our business and move our distribution over to the Royal Mail, but at the time this was the only way we could ensure the magazines were delivered.
In September 2022 we brought the distribution back in house and started hiring our own distributors again. In this way we can make a real difference to our local communities and put some money back where it’s needed more than ever.
This is where we need you. You can apply for a route or two, or more if you have lots of free time. Even if you don’t start out all that fit, you’ll get fitter and that will help because you are paid by the number of magazines delivered – so the speed with which you get around makes a difference to how much you can earn per hour.
You’ll need a smart phone to use our app, and be able to get the route fully delivered in the first week each month. Age wise you can be anything from 13 years old and up.
We’ll have the magazines dropped to you the week before distribution takes place and you can start early. The time you do it is flexible and can fit in around your school timetable, or any other work you might be doing.
It’s a great way to exercise, earn money and be a vital part of the community.
Simon Boatman, who is one of our new ‘captains’ says: “I was thrilled to be able to help. My daughter is doing a round, and a group of her friends have signed up too. We love the magazines and are very pleased to be part of the ‘new’ One Magazine team.”
Jake Tucker, editor, added: “These jobs provide a real feel-good factor. One of our previous distributors told me he was willing to do it for free because he loved the magazine so much. Getting paid was a bonus as he saw it!”
We are always recruiting. The nature of the job means it appeals mainly to teenagers and the semi-retired. The semi-retired tend to stay with it for many years, however as you’d expect, the teenagers move on to more mainstream careers (where we are always happy to provide references).
For many it is a first job and a vital line on an embryonic CV, for others distributing our magazines is a great way to remain connected to their neighbours, stay active and earn.
Join the One Magazine Distribution Team
Distributor Roles – A single route will earn somewhere between £20-£30 and take between 3-5 hours to complete. Delivery must be done by the end of the first week of the month. If you have more time you can apply for more routes, and earn more.
Captains – The ‘captain’ role involves being able to receive approx. 60 large shoe box size boxes of magazines and then dropping those out to around 20 distributors near you. This role pays approximately £100 a month.
